A League of Their Own

 • TOP NOTCH (my top choices)
• HONORABLE MENTION (well worth watching)
• YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER (I like them but you might not)
• CLASSICS (Great movies up through the 1960s - many don't have any rating)

A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN (1992) - PG - TOP NOTCH
Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty

Summary - Two sisters join the first female professional baseball league and struggle to help it succeed amidst their own growing rivalry.

Cautions -Language and thematic elements. Also, the longest audio scene of urination ever filmed.

Commentary - A League of Their Own is a wonder Baseball movie that effortlessly intermixes baseball action, comedy, drama, heart, and even values as well as any film out there. Like the best sports movies, it's not so much about sports as it is learning something through the process of playing sports. In this film, the importance of camaraderie and family and the good that comes from both winning and losing, not to mention an examination of gender and equality in sport and life are explored. It's a strongly-acted picture, nicely photographed, and consistently captivating and entertaining.

If it's been a while since you saw this one, I recommend you see it again soon.
