The Kid
• TOP NOTCH (my top choices)
• HONORABLE MENTION (well worth watching)
• YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER (I like them but you might not)
• CLASSICS (Great movies up through the 1960s - many don't have any rating)
THE KID (2000) - PG - TOP NOTCH
Bruce Willis, Spencer Breslin, Emily Mortimer
Summary - An unhappy and disliked image consultant gets a second shot at life when an eight year old version of himself mysteriously appears.
Cautions - This isn't just a feel good movie. There are some powerfully emotional moments and some intensity as our main character has to deal with his past.
Commentary - Why has everyone forgotten this movie?! It's a wonderful parable of the power of remembering - our dreams, our challenges, where we came from and that we can still choose who we will be in the future. At it's foundation, it's a story about a man and boy who help each other be better people but director Jon Turtletaub (who has a number of movies on my "Top Notch" list) infuses just the right mixture of comedy and sentiment.
Bruce Willis is the big celebrity name in the movie but it is young Spencer Breslin who really steals the show. This fantasy film is a delight from start to finish.
