Heaven Can Wait (1978)

• TOP NOTCH (my top choices)
• HONORABLE MENTION (well worth watching)
• YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER (I like them but you might not)
• CLASSICS (Great movies up through the 1960s - many don't have any rating)

HEAVEN CAN WAIT (1978) - PG - YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER
Warren Beatty, James Mason, Julie Christie

Summary - A Los Angeles Rams quarterback, accidentally taken away from his body by an overanxious angel before he was meant to die, returns to life in the body of a recently murdered millionaire.

Cautions -Mild language and themes of death.

Commentary - This is not at all related to the 1943 classic of the same name but it is a remake of the 1941 film, Here Comes Mr. Jordan.

Heaven Can Wait has everything going for it: big laughs, populist politics, billowy sequences set in heaven, a murder plot, a climactic Super Bowl game, a supporting cast of choice comic actors, and best of all, a touching romance. Warren Beatty's character is extremely likable and if you can get past the hair fashions of the 70s, you're in for a treat.

NOTE: The DVD transfer suffers from a lack of any remastering. As a result, the visual presentation looks even more dated and the audio (especially at higher intensities) is unforgivably distorted. Please bring on the blu-ray version!
